Adopt-a-Park
Haverhill's Adopt-a-Park Program is designed to encourage businesses, professionals, citizens, and community groups to assist the City by adopting an area. Adopters will plant, prune, protect and maintain these areas. They will also be able to purchase a standardized sign which gives them public recognition for their efforts.
Adopt-a-Park sites are broken down into four categories by city region: Bradford, East Haverhill, West Haverhill and Central Haverhill. You can click on these links to go to the web pages showing the available sites for adoption and their locations. A full directory of the sites within each section is listed here. To receive further information about a park you might like to adopt, e-mail us at Adopt-a-Park Information and we'll send you an information packet. Please allow two (2) weeks for delivery.
If you're ready to adopt, complete this application and e-mail it as an attachment to aap@haverhillsbrightside.org or you can mail it to Haverhill's Brightside, 4 Summer Street, Room 205, Haverhill, MA 01830.
Adopt-a-Park ID cards are now available for registered adopters. You can present the card for free AAP site green waste dumping in the Spring and Fall. It will also entitle you to free mulch and compost from the city yard. We hope to expand those services in the future.
To receive your AAP ID Card please click here then follow these instructions:
- select Register for Activities in the left panel
- select Programs at the top left
- select Brightside Adopt-a-Park ID at top left
- select Register in the panel that will appear at the bottom
- fill out all required fields indicated by a red asterisk *
- make sure you accept the liability waiver at the bottom:
I have READ and AGREE to the above waiver: (X)YES ()NO - continue with Add to cart
- fill in your name at the top for your credit card (No account information is needed—the fee has been waived but requires the name input to complete the process)
- proceed to check-out
You will receive an e-mail with a registration confirmation.
Call the Human Services Dep, Director Vinny Ouelette at 978-374-4500 to arrange for pick up of your card at Vinnie's office located in the Haverhill Citizens Center. If you do not have online capability please visit Vinnie at his office for assistance OR call Paul MacDonald at 978-994-4121.

Thank you to all our summer Adoptees: Birthing Gently, Doug Gould of Career Resources Corporation., Mariyln & Ralph Jenkins, Jeanne Rapazza, The Fairways, Mike Arasi & Roy Compton, Erik Peterson of Peterson Landscaping, Team Coordinating Agency/SOAP Program, and Lisa Manni! We had a total of nine adoptions this summer and are hoping to continue this positive progress into 2011.
