Welcome to the 3rd Haverhill Goes Green! environmental fair, presented by Haverhill's Brightside as a public service to increase awareness and understanding of green issues, especially what we can each do locally to improve the quality of life in our city.

Contest!Entry form for the Smarter Planet Challenge contest for students grades 6–12

For additional information contact John Michitson, michitson@mitre.org Haverhill’s Brightside supports student teams with business mentors to take a chance on a new idea and develop a profit or non-profit entrepreneurial venture that addresses sustainability. Haverhill’s Brightside will provide an initial grant of $500 to the top 10 team proposals. Brightside seeks socially responsible projects that benefit the environment, the local community or society as a whole. Got Ideas?? Be a Student Entrepreneur!!! Experiment with your entrepreneurial ideas and put them into action. Identify an opportunity to strengthen your school or community. Learn, create, and become Entrepreneurs as a team. Process Step 1 - Applications will be accepted February 1, 2012 through April 1, 2012 Step 2 - Project showcase for all applicants at Haverhill Goes Green 2012 on April xx Step 3 - Top 10 project proposals selected by judges and showcased by June 1, 2012 Step 4 – Stage 1 projects will be completed by November xx, 2012 Brightside approves proposals on the following criteria: Opportunity – Identifies a market or need that is relevant to the campus, community, or society as a whole. Social Responsibility – Accounts for community and environmental impact in addition to project’s main purpose Innovation – Draws on a new idea, product, or service, or an innovative way of looking at an old problem. Sustainability – Shows potential to continue in a financially sustainable way Student Driven – Based on ideas generated and championed by students Student Teams – Consisting of 2-5 enrolled students Practicality – Designed to use the grant in an efficient manner
